Politicians on Capitol Hill are quickly learning what many businessmen around this country have long known–you don’t cross Donald Trump.
When a handful of Republican senators joined Democrats in defeating Trump’s effort to repeal Obamacare, they foolishly incurred the president’s wrath.
And that’s a really bad idea when you’re talking about a president who doesn’t care about political or mainstream media blowback so long as he gets the job done.
Trump is not playing the typical game of politics, at least not by the same rules as the Republican and Democratic establishments.
So, if the senators aren’t going to help him fix health care for all Americans, Trump’s going to take away THEIR health care benefits!
In a tweet following the fateful Senate vote, Trump stated: “If a new HealthCare Bill is not approved quickly, BAILOUTS for Insurance Companies and BAILOUTS for Members of Congress will end very soon!”
The Wall Street Journal said it was one of Trump’s “most explicit threats to cut off payments to insurance companies to force senators and lobbyists back to the bargaining table for a GOP health-care bill…”
They also noted that it marked the first time that Trump had been “willing to cancel some of lawmakers’ health-care benefits.”
“…he also plans to directly target subsidies that are available to health insurance policies for some Congressional staff members. Thousands of members of Congress and staff are enrolled in plans on the Washington, D.C., insurance exchange.”
